Christmas

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! May God watch over and bless you all.

Unfortunately I'm home alone in Vegas this year, but was able to spend Thanksgiving with my family, and I've been alone before, so I'm sure I'll survive. Vegas had the most snow they've seen in 30 years all in a matter of 3 days this week, so it's actually been kind of festive. Although I did move here to get away from the snow and cold! At least it didn't last long and we're back to sunshine and dry roads!

Have a happy and safe holiday!

Aren't they beautiful

We managed to get the whole family together this year at Thanksgiving for a family photo. Thought they turned out well (aside from my ugly double chin). Yes, that makes 12 nieces & nephews (with one on the way), not a one of which is mine! I love them all dearly and can't wait until we can do it again!

Amidst the sadness this weekend in going to Colorado for my uncle's funeral, we got good news! Kurt & Stefanie are expecting a new little bundle sometime next June!

A Bitter-Sweet Birthday

I've not been big on birthdays anyway, since mine always suck! But, the first call I got this morning was from my mother, not only to wish me a happy birthday, but letting me know that my uncle had been killed in an accident last night. I just wanted to express my deepest sympathy and love to my aunt Ann-Marie and her two beautiful children. God bless you during this difficult time. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Fall Rant

Just a quick update while I have a moment. I spent my weekend moving. I had to find a cheaper place, to make a long story short. And I'm just glad it's all over with!

Mom had partial knee surgery about 10 days ago and is healing from that. Aside from adverse reactions to every pain medication she was given, she is healing quickly and returns to the doctor tomorrow for a check up.

Trevor & Chrissy had a scare and Chrissy ended up being flown out on the Flight for Life helicopter and the baby almost came 2 months early. She's on bed-rest now, and the baby and her are both doing well. Hopefully she'll hold out until at least mid-October to deliver, being as she isn't due until just before Thanksgiving.

Nicole found a job in Grand Junction and will be settling down there. She also just bought her a new Dodge Pickup and is beyond thrilled with that!

Everyone else appears to be doing well. Travis is facing some troubles, but seems to be dealing with them well. He as well as Mom & Chrissy could really use your prayers.

Me, well, I'm just working, trying to make ends meet, and taking care of me. Nothing new or truly exciting!

Mid-Summer's Dream?

Unfortunately, it's not been the summer of dreams, or even the one I planned. My brother, Trevor, and his wife were not able to make their planned visit in June, so that was disappointing, but they're happily expecting a baby girl in November. Since I intend to take my vacation to Colorado this year at Thanksgiving, I'm excited that she will arrive just before my visit so I can spoil her for a moment, before she's all grown up.

I missed yet another Richardson Family Reunion in June also. I used to look forward to them every year, and I miss them terribly. It was something my Grandmother begged be carried on, and it has, even without me. I miss my cousins so much! Unfortunately, I'm probably the only one that doesn't have the means, to or look forward to, the camping in the middle of nowhere, so it's not only far, but quite an expense for this city girl, so it seems to pass me by every year. It makes me sad, but I pray my family passes on my love to everyone, that I haven't seen in probably 10 years. (Gosh, that makes me feel old). I love seeing everyone else's blog with their creativity (its sickening how talented some people are), pictures, and being able to get a peek into how they and their evolving families are doing. I feel like I don't know any of them anymore, so it's my secret tie so I don't feel too far lost. My parents have never been the best at keeping me informed.

The Nielsen Family Reunion is this weekend in my hometown and I have to miss that one too. My cousins from here are all going, so it's a bit sad that I'm the one left behind, especially since they'll get to see my parents and siblings and I won't. I hope they have a wonderful time though, especially Michele, as she truly deserves a break, for surviving cancer and taking care of me all these years. She's such a blessing! My Grandfather (Dad's Dad) is going downhill and it may be the last chance for many of the family to see him, so it will be a good reunion for everyone.

It's hard to believe Summer is already half over! I'm grateful, only because this heat is so miserable to me, but it's still hard to believe the year is already over halfway over also. The older I get the faster time flies! I'm trying to focus on myself and take some time out from the distractions of dating. I am trying to get out of my "hermit" mode and make myself get out more and try to get back to having somewhat of a life. I hope to do that and still be able to do the things I need to in order to make it in the desert on my own. I wouldn't have it any other way, but it's never been easy, so I just keep my fingers crossed and keep trudging.

I'm looking forward to Fall, for the cooler weather, and because it's closer to the end of a miserable year and closer to the holidays so I can see my family (hopefully). I could do without getting another year older though! All I can do is hope it gets better and pray the next year is a better one!

God bless you all!

Another One Bites The Dust

Another month over, and another man gone. I guess that makes me older and wiser! Whateverso, I am looking forward to the summer and taking some time to myself.

The most eventful part of my month was definitely my baby sister's visit a few weekends back. I'm probably not the best tour guide, since I don't get out much, but nonetheless, it was productive. I took her shopping and to get her ears pierced (yea, at 21!). We also took in a show called Mystere by Cirque du Soleil at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino and it was AWESOME! It's only the 3rd show I've been to in the 10 years I've lived in Las Vegas. But, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone! Of course, visits from family are never long enough, as this one was. Nicole had to get back to Colorado to start looking for a job and start her new life in the "real world".

I am still hopeful that Trevor & his family will be able to visit this month, but unfortunately, with his wife's pregnancy, she's fragile and hasn't been feeling well. So, I may not get to see them this month, but I'm definitely praying Chrissy gets better and that they're able to take their vacation.

Cheers to a safe, productive & happy next month! God bless!

May 2008

Ok, so I'm not very good at this whole blogging thing, sorry. I don't have the most eventful life either, so I know I can't keep you entertained anyway, but I figured I was way due for an update, do here goes.

The supposed "wonderful" relationship from last fall ended before the holidays. But, I am happy and it was all for the better.

It's not been my best year yet, but I am determined to come out ahead in the end, somehow. I did start dating an old acquaintance in February, and am just enjoying that for now. We're taking things slowly, as it seems to work the best for not only me, but him too. He's a Las Vegas native with deep family ties and a good head. Neither of us are in a hurry as far as the relationship goes, so don't expect any grand updates anytime soon.

I'm just enjoying my job, going on 1 1/2 years now and grateful I even have one, as so many don't. Life is typically peaceful & quiet and I can never complain about that. I'm looking forward to a good summer and visits from family. Nicole is graduating Dental Hygiene School this month and then coming to visit just after her birthday. It's hard to believe my little sister is almost 21 years old! Since I have 12 years on her, that just makes me feel OLD! Trevor & his wife, Chrissy and their daughter Alana plan to visit in June and I can hardly wait. I always enjoy their company and I haven't seen anyone since Christmas, so I'm sure my niece is almost a young lady now (well, she probably thinks so, though she still has quite a ways to go, thank God!).

I have two family reunions this summer, but the way things have been going, it doesn't look like I'll be making it to either one. I am just hoping to make the trip to Colorado at Christmas to spend that time with my family.

Blessings for a wonderful summer!

Happy New Year!

Best wishes for a happy and safe New Year! I decided not to make a resolution this year, as I don't think I've ever really followed through with them, so as to not waste my time. I always just hope this one is better than the last.

I had a wonderful week in Colorado at Christmas with my beautiful family. I actually got to see everyone this visit and that was nice. It was especially sweet seeing my newest niece and seeing all 11 of the kids and how much they've grown. Seeing the oldest sure makes me feel old! I was glad to be home though, back to warmer weather and to peace and quiet. It's always fun for a little while, but I'm always grateful I can come home and get away from the chaos too. I do thank God every day for such a wonderful family.
